Description

This is a cross base located approximately 30 meters south of the chapel of St. Luke's Church in Formby. The date of the cross base is unknown and features three square steps with a socket for a wooden cross that is encased in lead. A plaque on the west side notes that the cross was removed from Cross Green and re-erected at this site in 1879. The wooden cross was taken down for repair in 1985, and a replacement cross of similar design was installed in 2000.
