Description

A farmhouse, now a house, likely dating from the early to mid 17th century and subject to slight alterations. It is constructed around a cruck frame with rendered walls and a straw thatched roof, half-hipped at the north end, featuring 20th-century brick chimneys. The plan follows a 2-bay baffle-entry layout on a north-south axis.

The building is single-storey with a loft, presented with a three-window front. The east front includes a small 20th-century wooden porch situated between the second and third bays, a small six-pane fixed window in the first bay, a segmental-headed three-light sliding sash window in the centre, and a very small rectangular window to the right. A rebuilt ridge chimney sits in line with the doorway, and a similar chimney is located at the left gable. The left gable wall incorporates two exceptionally small square windows to the loft. The right-hand gable wall displays an oblong two-light casement at ground floor, a small inserted window to the left, and a square two-light casement to the loft. The rear wall features a doorway at the north end, alongside a two-light sliding sash window. A three-light sliding sash window is positioned centrally, and a small six-pane fixed window is located in the south bay.

The interior is believed to contain a central room open to the roof, an inglenook fireplace with a timber bressumer at the upper end, and an exposed cruck truss at the lower, south end. It represents the least altered of the few surviving cruck-framed structures within the district.
