Description
Titus Cottage is a house built around 1858, with some alterations. It features white-painted render on brick, sandstone dressings, and a graduated slate roof, designed in a "Regency" Tudor style. The building has an L-plan layout, consisting of a double-fronted main range with a back extension to the left.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range. The centre gable projects slightly forward and includes a gabled porch at the ground floor. This porch has a Tudor-arched outer opening with imposts and a matching inner doorway, which now features a 20th-century glazed door. Above the porch, there is a lancet-shaped two-light casement window, also with imposts. The flanking bays contain wooden-mullioned three-light casements on both floors, with the ground floor windows being taller and transomed. All windows have raised sills, run-out lintels with hoodmoulds, and narrow lights with slender horizontal glazing bars.
Titus Cottage forms a group with the adjoining houses at Nos 45 and 47 to the right, with No. 45 likely being of similar construction.
