Description
The Agnes and John Rowe Obelisk is a funerary monument located in Toxteth Park Cemetery, built in 1875 to commemorate JJ Rowe and Agnes Rowe, who died in 1888. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and designed in the Gothic style. The monument features a chamfered square base with two steps, which supports an octagonal broach spire topped with a cross. The spire is adorned with a quatrefoil band and has eight enriched lucarnes, each covering an inscribed tablet. The obelisk is enclosed on three sides by a chamfered kerb, with an iron railing on pinnacles.
