Description
No. 2 Wellington Avenue, which also includes No. 2 Wellington Fields, is a pair of houses built around the 1840s. They are finished in stucco and feature a hipped slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high, with two bays for each house, and the end bays project forward. A deeper cornice with modillions and paterae is present over the central bays, and rusticated quoins add to the architectural detail.
The ground floor windows have flat architraves, with the end bay windows projecting. The central bay windows have quoined reveals and cornices. The first floor windows are adorned with label moulds. The entrances to the returns are round-headed, featuring flat surrounds and cornices, and each house has a four-panelled door. No. 2 Wellington Avenue has casement windows, while No. 2 Wellington Fields has sash windows with glazing bars, including a tripartite sash in the projecting window.
