Description
The Robert Rodgers Obelisk at Toxteth Park Cemetery is a funerary monument built in 1868 to honor Robert Rodgers, a merchant. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features an eclectic architectural style. The monument has a square base and a panelled plinth, leading to a square pedestal adorned with corner pilasters beneath a cornice. Each side of the pedestal has cusped pointed arched panels, three of which are inscribed. Above this, there is an enriched plinth that supports a square tabernacle, which also has cusped pointed arched panels beneath enriched gables. The monument is topped with a short square spire that has a crocket finial.
