Description
The Eleanora and William Gillespie Obelisk is a funerary monument located in Toxteth Park Cemetery, built in 1871. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar with pink granite dressings and features white marble panels, showcasing a Gothic style. The monument has a battered square pedestal adorned with cusped inlaid panels set in moulded surrounds. Above this is a square tabernacle with crocketed cross-gables, supported by clustered granite shafts. The design includes cusped pointed-arched panels, one of which is inscribed.
