Description
The obelisk monument in the middle enclosure of Bunhill Fields Burial Ground dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of Portland stone and features a squat obelisk with a square base, which rests on four stone balls. There is a rectangular panel attached to one side of the obelisk. Below it is a square pedestal with a moulded cap and sunken side panels, one of which displays an armorial achievement featuring a chevron with three stags, carved in low relief. Currently, there is no visible inscription on the monument. This structure is noted for its impressive late-Georgian funeral design and holds group value with other listed tombs in the burial ground, which is registered as Grade I.
