Description
Nos. 25 and 27 Victoria Street, along with Nos. 22-26 Stanley Street, is a bank building from the 1870s. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and stands four storeys high. The Victoria Street facade features five bays, while the Stanley Street facade has eleven bays. The ground floor is rusticated stone with segmental-headed windows and two round-headed entrances, topped by a string course. The first floor has windows within architraves, three of which have pediments, while the other two have rectangular carved panels above. The second floor windows are also within architraves and include roundels on the sill course. The third floor has small windows that interrupt a panelled frieze, which is topped by a cornice. The Stanley Street facade mirrors the main facade treatment for the first four bays, then shifts to a more utilitarian style with loading bays at the fifth and tenth bays; the latter features a round head and a swept gable with a finial. The sixth and seventh bays have three storeys with tripartite windows that include iron mullions, while the eighth and ninth bays are similar but consist of four storeys with paired windows. The end bay includes small stair lights.
