Description
Muskars Buildings is a Grade II listed office and shop building constructed in 1882 by Thomas E Murray. It is made of red sandstone with a polished granite ground floor and features Gothic architectural elements. The building has canted corner bays with two-storey oriel windows and seven bays along Stanley Street. The ground floor includes shop fronts situated between flat pilasters and corner entrances. The windows display a variety of styles, predominantly pointed-arched with tracery, alongside some square-headed windows with mullions and transoms. The third floor is adorned with three gables and a deep balcony supported by brackets. The Stanley Street facade is similarly designed but includes a third bay entrance that is pointed-arched with tracery, topped by a heavy carved balcony. Above this entrance, two turrets rise to a squat tower featuring an octagonal lantern, a short spire, and a finial. There are four dormers located to the right of the entrance bay.
