Description

This is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building is three storeys high with a basement, and has four bays. A sill course runs along the first floor, and there’s a cornice at the top of the building. All windows have wedge-shaped lintels and are sash windows without glazing bars. The second bay features a round-headed entrance with fluted capitals to attached columns, and contains a three-panel double-doored entrance. Original iron area railings and a first-floor balcony are present. The house was formerly the home of Lytton Strachey.
