Description
The entrance to West Derby Cemetery, built in 1884, features stone gate piers and gates. The central pier includes an arched recess adorned with colonnettes and a hood mould. At the angles, there are tourelles topped with truncated spirelets and a small broach spire with a fleuron. The four flanking gate piers have flat buttresses and gableted pyramidal caps, which rest on octagonal bases that once supported pinnacles. The entrance is completed by two pairs of wrought iron gates and two single gates.
