Set of 6 gatepiers, with gates, at entrance to cemetery. c.1879. Sandstone ashlar piers, wrought-iron gates. Gothic style. Inner and 2 outer pairs of gatepiers, the inner pair taller; all with chamfered bases, broach stops to recessed corners, traceried gablets to all faces, and short octagonal spirelets with cusped panels. Double gates to the centre and single gates to the pedestrian gateways, all with wrought-iron open-work including trefoil tracery and quatrefoil panels. Forms group with associated Registrar's Office to west and lodge to east (q.v.).
