Description
The gate piers and railings at West Park Cemetery were constructed in 1889 by Knight of Nottingham, with early 20th-century railings. They are made of stone and cast iron, featuring a brick plinth for the railings. The structure includes four stone gate piers, each approximately 12 feet high, with plain square bases and chamfered square piers. The piers are topped with elaborate octagonal finials, which have fleur-de-lys topped panels at the base and pointed tops. Between the two central piers, there is a pair of ornate ironwork gates adorned with decorative scrolls and leaves, with similar gates on either side. Early 20th-century railings are attached to the outer piers, set on a high brick plinth, featuring plain rails with decorative panels at regular intervals. This structure is included for its group value.
