Description

Northfield and office to West Derby Cemetery is a house and office building dated 1881. It is constructed of stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and five irregular bays. There is a sill band at the first floor level. Most of the windows are mullioned and transomed. The first bay includes a canted bay window with a hipped slate roof, while the third bay has a similar bay window with a parapet. The fourth bay is recessed. The first floor window in the first bay has a half-dormer, and the third bay has a gable, with both bays featuring recessed panels above the windows. The end bay has a tower with clasping buttresses that end in pinnacles. Above the paired arched lights, there is a four-faced clock and gables. The tower includes an open arcaded bell stage topped with a short slate spire and a weather cock. On the right return, there is an entrance under a tympanum that displays the date and an orival hood. An oriel window is present on the buttress to the right.
