Description
This listing describes a terrace of five houses located on Wavertree Road, dating from the 1820s. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature slate roofs, rising to three storeys. They have a first-floor sill band and a top cornice. The windows are mostly casements with wedge lintels.
Number 1 is a single bay with a chamfered corner and a three-bay return. The ground floor displays stucco rustication that caps the first bay of the return, which includes one elliptical-headed window, one round-headed window, and an entrance to the return. The angle features an entrance adorned with a cornice supported by triglyphs. The return has a three-bay pediment interrupted by a loading bay with a cat-head.
Number 3 consists of two bays and has a round-headed entrance framed by a Doric doorcase with fluted columns, along with one blind window on the second floor. Number 5 showcases a 19th-century shop front with Corinthian pilasters and a modillioned cornice above the fascia, with blind windows in the second bay.
Number 7 is three bays wide, with a chamfered angle and a two-bay return. It features an early 20th-century tiled pub front, with the central bay having blind windows. Lastly, number 30 Marmaduke Street is three storeys tall with a basement and four bays, the end bay being recessed. Its round-headed entrance also has a Doric doorcase with fluted columns.
