Description
Walton Terrace is a terrace of three houses built around 1800, with later alterations. The buildings are constructed of brick, partially painted and partially stuccoed, featuring ashlar dressings. They have a slate M-shaped roof with brick stacks positioned across the axes. The design is a double-depth plan with central staircases leading to double-fronted houses. The terrace stands three storeys high and has a nine-window range, with two gabled rear wings.
Number 59 features a first-floor sill band and a top cogged brick cornice. Its entrance includes an enclosed porch with fluted pilasters and a frieze adorned with rosettes at the corners, leading to a panelled door. The ground floor has a late 19th-century timber bay window on the right and a window with a wedge lintel above a 12-pane sash on the left. The first floor has 12-pane sashes with 20th-century shutters, while the second floor has windows with sills and 6-pane sashes, also with 20th-century shutters.
Number 61 has an ashlar ground floor, a top cornice, and a blocking course. Its porch features Doric half-columns, a frieze, and a modillioned cornice that extends over flanking bow windows, leading to paired half-glazed doors. The windows include tripartite French windows, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor flanking the French window, and 6-pane sashes on the second floor with sills.
Number 63 has a top cogged brick frieze. Its enclosed porch includes a top cornice and a panelled door, with flanking bow windows that have cornices and 20th-century casements. The first floor features windows with sills and 12-pane sashes, while the second floor has casement windows.
