Description
Walton Bridge is a bridge over the River Trent, likely dating from the medieval or post-medieval period, with rebuilding that occurred in the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features two main arches, along with one large and three small flood arches on the north side, and a small flood arch on the south side. The bridge has two segmental-pointed arches that enclose older arches, which are supported by three ribs, with a segmental arch on the south side and all small flood arches being segmental-pointed. There are four triangular cutwaters on the east side and five on the west side. A platt band runs above the arches, and the bridge has plain parapets. It measures approximately 60 meters in length and 5 meters in width. The bridge was superseded by a new structure in 1984.
