Description
A terrace of three houses located on Trinity Road, dating to the early 19th century. The construction is primarily of Flemish bond brickwork, with rendered gables and a rear wall, all topped with slate roofs. The houses are three storeys high, with double attics and a basement, each originally featuring a single window. The prominent full-height, flat bows contain tripartite sash windows; the second-floor windows retain glazing bars, while the others are plain sashes. Number 20 has a 19th-century two-pane shop front with pilasters to a corniced gablet. The top floor bows have small modillion cornices. To the left of Number 20, a brick arch reveals a doorway with a fanlight, accessed by eight stone steps with nosings and spearhead railings that return on both sides. A sash window and a six-panel door, beneath the steps and covered by a brick arch with iron camber bars, are at basement level. The doors to Numbers 21 and 22 are paired, each comprising six panels with part-glazing and a painted fanlight in plain reveals, accessed by five stone steps and featuring railings that return to the doorways and connect with Number 20. A 12-pane sash window is present at basement level for Number 21, and a three-light casement for Number 22, alongside two flush-panel doors under brick-arched steps. The basement is accessible via a pavement at a lower level. The exterior is further characterized by full-width plain strings at the first and second floor levels, a simple cornice on paired brick dentils, and a blocking course with a coped parapet, topped with two large ridge stacks. The rear elevation features a mansard roof with dormers at two levels, a single flat-roofed dormer at the upper level, and six to the lower slope. Various windows are present on the rear, including tall stair lights to Numbers 21 and 22, which also includes a large, flat-roofed addition. Number 20 features a two-storey, slate-gabled range with a series of workshop windows on the upper floor. The interior was not inspected.
