Description

A group of four houses, numbers 31 to 37 Orford Street, dating from around 1850. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, topped with a slate roof. They are two storeys high with a basement, and each house is one bay wide. A sill band runs along the first floor, and the houses have a top cornice and blocking course. The windows have wedge lintels. The paired entrances feature flat architraves with Greek hoods above, and a blind window above the door. The doors are mostly of two panels, with the exception of number 31. Windows at numbers 31 and 33 are sash windows with glazing bars; number 35 has casement windows, and number 37 has sash windows without glazing bars. Numbers 35 and 37 have timber and glass canopies over the entrances. Decorative iron area railings are present.
