Description

This milestone and boundary stone, dating from the 19th century, is made of sandstone and has a triangular plan with a sloping top. The top is inscribed on the left with the word 'CATTERALL' and on the right with 'UPPER RAWCLIFFE'. The left-hand face features the inscriptions: 'GT. ECCLESTON 3 1/4 MILES. POULTON-LE-FYLDE 9 1/4 MILES. BLACKPOOL 13 MILES'. The right-hand face is damaged and contains the inscriptions: '(G)ARSTANG - MILES. (L)ANCASTh9- MILES'. Part of this milestone is located in Catterall parish.
