Description

Lower Laund Mill is a building that likely started as a water-powered woollen mill in the late 18th century and is now used as a scrap-metal warehouse. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and has a stone slate roof that is set over two levels. The mill has a rectangular four-bay layout, with a two-bay extension to the right.

The building features a basement and two raised storeys, with the extension continuing for two storeys at a lower level. On the right side, there is a large round-arched doorway that is accessed by steps. To the left, at the raised ground floor level, there are four square windows, all with two lights and flush mullions, except for the third window, which has been altered. The first floor has flush mullion windows with configurations of two, four, four, and four lights, with the third window altered and missing one mullion.

At the rear, the first floor has six taller windows, mostly with two lights and flush mullions. The extension to the right, which may have originally been one or two dwellings, has a doorway on each floor at the left end, with the upper doorway approached by wooden steps. There is a plain doorway at the right end, along with two large windows on each floor, one of which has been altered into a door, while the others have modified glazing.
