6/158 Lower Laund Mill - - II

Mill, probably originally water-powered woollen mill, late C18, now scrap-metal warehouse. Coursed sandstone rubble, stone slate roof on 2 levels. Rectangular 4-bay plan, with 2-bay continuation to right. Basement and 2 raised storeys, with continuation 2 storeys to lower level. Mill has at right hand end a large round-arched doorway approached by steps, to left at raised ground floor level 4 square windows, all 2 lights with flush mullions except 3rd, which is altered; 1st floor has flush mullion windows of 2, 4, 4, and 4 lights (3rd altered and lacking one mullion). Rear has at 1st floor 6 taller windows, mostly 2 lights with flush mullions. Continuation to right, possibly originally one or 2 dwellings, has doorway on each floor at left end (upper approached by wooden steps), plain doorway at right hand end, 2 large windows each floor (one altered as door, others with altered glazing).
