Description
Unit 30, Mill House Estate is a mill building, likely a warehouse, that is now unoccupied industrial premises. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and measures 11 by 4 bays, with bays 4 to 6 positioned under a gable. The doorways feature plain stone surrounds, while the windows have stone lintels and projecting sills, with six panes; some windows are now blocked.
On the ground floor, there are doorways to bays 2, 4 (which has a blocked wide door), 8/9 (which has a wide door), and 11. The windows in the other bays include barred windows in bays 1 and 2. The first floor features a four-panel loading door in bay 2 and a loading door with a hoist in the gable above bay 5. The building has paired gutter brackets.
At the rear, there is a window in each bay on both the ground and first floors, with barred windows on the ground floor. The left return has a window in each bay on both floors, also with barred ground-floor windows, and a keyed Venetian window in the gable. The right return features two blocked doorways and a keyed Venetian window in the gable. The barred windows may suggest that this building was used for storing acids and dyes. It is part of a mill complex.
