Description

No. 42 on Todmorden Road is a house from the late 18th century that is now derelict. It is built of watershot coursed sandstone and has a stone slate roof with a chimney located at the left gable. The house has two bays and two storeys, featuring a plain doorway that is slightly offset to the right of the centre. On each floor, there are two stepped multiple-light windows; all have five lights, except for the window to the right of the door, which has three lights. The current brick partition wall on the first floor indicates that this space was likely originally open throughout, possibly used for domestic weaving.
