Description

Bacup stocks, dated 1749, are constructed with slotted stone side posts and deep wooden rails that have housings for the legs of two victims. A slab set in the paving at the front indicates that the stocks were discovered in Tong Lane in 1974. They were re-erected in Yorkshire Street in 1976, before being moved to The Wall of History in 2006.
