Description

Stocks are a pair of double stocks, possibly from the 17th century, that were restored in 1930 and 1960. They are made of gritstone and wood. The structure consists of two stone posts, each approximately 1 metre high, which are grooved on the inside faces. Two wooden boards are slotted between the posts, featuring holes for two pairs of legs. A brass plaque on one of the posts indicates that the stocks are located on the site of the old smithy. They were originally removed from the old pinfold in 1930 and underwent restoration at that time and again in 1960.
