Stocks. Possibly C17. Gritstone and wood. 2 stone uprights approximately 60 centimetres high with grooves on the inner face; the wooden 2-piece foot board with 4 holes is now fastened by 2 iron staples so that the upper part cannot move. Positioned near the south side of the Market Cross, possibly so that the victim sat on the lower step. Scheduled Ancient Monument No 418 (with cross).
