Description

Hill Top Hall is a large 17th-century farmhouse with a west wing added around 1908 and other later alterations. It is two storeys and has attics. The west front has two windows, while the north wing is one window wide and built in a 17th-century style. The roof is covered in stone slate. The exterior is dressed grit stone, with gables featuring coved coping, kneelers, and finials. A large, projecting chimney stack is located on the west wall, featuring a crow-stepped base that rises to a double stack with gargoyles at the base of the chimney shaft. The original windows are good quality, with two lights and mullions, hood moulds, and leaded lights. Later splayed bay windows have been added to the ground floor. The doorway has a low, pointed head set in a splayed recess with a hood mould that extends over an adjacent window. The original oak boarded door has been altered.
