Description
This is an 18th-century cottage, likely originally used for domestic weaving. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with a stone slate roof. A chimney is shared with the adjacent property at number 166. The cottage has a double-depth plan and one bay. The front elevation has a plain doorway on the right, a stepped triple-light window at ground floor level, and a stepped five-light window above. All windows have glazing bars, with the middle lights of the sash windows opening. A brick lean-to extends from the rear ground floor. Above this lean-to are two square windows; one has twelve panes, while the other has been altered. A tall chimney rises from the eaves between the two first-floor windows. The left return wall projects beyond the rear and features a window on each floor. The cottage shares vertical joints with the properties at numbers 166 and 170.
