Description
Nos. 38 and 40 on Oakencough Road are two cottages, part of a row of three, built around 1800. They are constructed from watershot coursed sandstone and feature a stone slate roof, which currently has no chimneys. The cottages are double pile, each consisting of one bay and rising to two storeys. There is a vertical joint between the two cottages, with a doorway on each side of this joint. Each doorway has a plain surround and a board door. Both cottages have stepped triple-light windows on each floor, with No. 38 having two windows on the first floor. The right return wall of No. 40 is rendered and includes a doorway at ground floor level. Note that No. 36, which continues to the left, is not included in this listing.
