SD 81 NW RAMSBOTTOM ROCHDALE ROAD

Fecit Farmhouse with attached 10/137 stable and shippon - - II

Farmhouse with attached stable and shippon, probably early C18, altered. Sandstone rubble with quoins (whitewashed), stone slate roof on 3 slightly different levels, with 2 brick chimneys on the ridge. Double-depth 2-bay plan, the 2nd bay projecting slightly to front and rear, plus stable to left and shippon to right, each one bay. Two storeys: prominent single storey gabled porch offset left of centre, window to left of 2 square lights with central mullion, triple-recessed head and thin hoodmould (right end covered by porch), square window to right with glazing bars and similar hoodmould; 2 horizontal rectangular windows at 1st floor. Slightly higher stable and shippon attached at each end are of large random rubble, stable having a doorway and altered window, shippon a door and 2 windows also altered. Rear, to rising slope, has inter alia 1st floor loading doors to stable and shippon.
