Description

These are a group of six cottages dating to 1817. They were originally the stables and coach house for the now-demolished Nuttall Hall. The cottages are constructed of stone. They are two storeys high. Six sash windows are visible, with the end cottages set back slightly. The central two windows are topped with pediments, one of which encloses a carved cartouche by Thomas Vicar, and there is a roundel between them. A later rectangular bay has been added in the center, with three windows and a doorway on the ground floor, which has closed a previous arched entry. An arched doorway, flanked by quoins, provides access to numbers 3 and 7. Doors to numbers 1 and 9 have stone surrounds and pediments – the one at number 9 is no longer present. The doors of numbers 1, 3, and 7 feature molded and arched panels. A sill band runs along the first floor, and there is an eaves gutter cornice.
