Description
West Lodge at Browsholme Hall, built in 1832, is a two-storey lodge constructed from sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof. The west wall features a two-storey bay window made of ashlar, which includes a 5-light window with moulded mullions on both floors. The upper window has segmental heads, and the mouldings of the mullions continue vertically across the blank wall between the windows. This section displays a central coat of arms with 'TP 1832' inscribed. The return walls of the bay have two similar lights on each floor, and the bay window is topped with a solid parapet. Above it, the gable of the house is adorned with a coping and crocketed pinnacles, and below the apex is a niche with a semi-circular head and an ogee hood with stops.
The south wall features a one-bay cross-wing on the right side, which has two-light moulded mullioned windows with hoods; the first-floor window has semi-circular heads for the lights. Above this is a chamfered opening with a semi-circular head and hood. The gable of the cross-wing also has a coping with crocketed pinnacles. To the left of the south front, there is a single first-floor window similar to that of the cross-wing. The door, which has a plain stone surround, is located to the right of the cross-wing, alongside the chimney.
Adjoining the lodge are gatepiers made of sandstone ashlar, featuring a square section and moulded cornices.
