Description
The lodge, walls, and piers at the entrance to Broomshields Hall date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, featuring an ashlar plinth, quoins, and dressings, with ashlar piers. The roof is made of Welsh slate.
The lodge is a single storey with three bays, highlighted by a central gabled porch that has an open elliptical-headed chamfered arch. It includes a six-panelled door with an overlight featuring lattice glazing bars, all framed in a pedimented architrave with corner paterae. On either side of the porch are cross windows set in long-and-short jambs, with flat stone lintels and sills, and deep chamfers. The low-pitched roof is accented by octagonal chimneys at each end, which have plinths and cornices, along with bargeboards above the porch.
The serpentine walls are topped with flat stone coping and terminate in panelled square corniced piers, with the central pier adorned with ball finials. A flat-roofed rear addition to the lodge is noted as not being of interest.
