Description

This is a range of eighteen buildings, dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries. They are rough-rendered, with rendered details and moulded eaves cornices. The buildings have rusticated quoins. Number 11 has three windows on the upper floors, with modern glazing, and a modern ground floor. Numbers 13 and 15 each have a single window on each of the three floors, most of which are hung sashes with glazing bars. These numbers have stone surrounds to their four-panel doors, which are modern, and rectangular fanlights. Number 17 is similar but has two windows on the upper two floors. An arched carriage entry is located to the left. A string course runs along the building at the level of the first floor window sills. Number 19 mirrors number 13 in appearance, with hung sashes with glazing bars. Number 21 is similar, but the windows lack glazing bars and feature a grooved architrave with a cornice to the eight-fielded door and rectangular fanlight. Number 23 has two windows on the upper two floors, without glazing bars, and rusticated quoins. It has a door of eight fielded panels, with a plain pilastered doorway and entablature and cornice. The buildings of Numbers 11 to 23, along with Stanworth House and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School for Boys, form a group.
