Description

Stanworth House is a mid-19th century Gothic villa, dated on a plaque in the gable end. It is two storeys high, with pebbledashed walls and a slate roof. The front elevation originally featured two windows with rectangular dripmoulds and slightly arched lights. An angle porch has columns, a parapet and a cornice. A gable to the right bears a date stone and three finials. Above a canted stone bay, which has a parapet and finials and arched lights, is a single window. To the right of the main body is a lower wing, one storey in height, with a two-light window beneath a rectangular dripmould, accompanied by a parapet and cornice. The building forms a group with numbers 11 to 23 (odd), Stanworth House, and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School for Boys.
