Description

This milestone, located on the south side of the road approximately 220 metres west of the corner of Simonstone Lane, dates from the mid-19th century. At the time of the survey in 1984, it was noted to be fallen and damaged. The milestone features a round-headed slab with incised lettering on what is now the upper side, indicating distances: "TO WHALLEY 3 MILES" and "TO CLITHEROE 7 MILES," with "SIMONSTONE" inscribed on the outer edge.
