This milestone, located beside the road outside number 614 on Preston Road in Clayton-le-Woods, is likely from the early 19th century. It is a wedge-shaped stone slab approximately 1 metre high, featuring lettered iron plates on its sides. The plate on the left indicates "TO CHORLEY 4 MILES," while the plate on the right states "TO PRESTON 5 MILES."
