Description
Starkie Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably from the 17th century, that has been altered and is now used as a house. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, and features a rendered gable facing the road. The roof is tiled and has gable chimneys. The building has two bays and two storeys, with a small single-storey extension at the right end. In the centre, there is a modern lean-to porch. To the right of the porch, there is a six-light transomed window with ovolo and fillet moulded mullions and transom, topped by a straight dripmould. To the left of the porch, there is a two-light window with a similar mullion and a three-light window with cavetto mullions. On the first floor, there are two vertical rectangular windows with plain surrounds. The set-back single-storey extension at the right end has a stone slate roof and may have originally served as a porch for a gable-end entry. The rear of the building is of less interest, and the interior has not been inspected.
