Description

Broughton Church of England Primary School is a school built in 1843, with some alterations made later. It is constructed from rock-faced sandstone and features a slate roof with stone parapets and gable chimneys. The building has three wide bays and is a single storey in the Jacobean style. It has a chamfered plinth, two buttresses, and a stepped gablet above each bay. Beneath these gablets are stepped triple-light windows, which are flanked by vertical rectangular casements, except for the third bay on the right, which is shorter. At the left end, there is an entrance porch that has a Tudor-arched doorway, a blank rectangular panel above it, and a crow-stepped gabled parapet. A matching entrance is located at the rear of the right gable end, which are believed to be later alterations. There is also an added rear wing made of random rubble, but it is not considered of special interest.
