Description
St Germans Church of England School is a mid-19th century school building with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with limestone dressings and features a hipped slate roof behind a parapet at the front. The layout includes a main central hall with porch entrances on both the right and left, and additional rooms at the rear, which are at a higher ground level due to the slope of the site. The building is designed in the Tudor Gothic style and is a tall single-storey structure with a symmetrical front. The three central bays are slightly advanced, flanked by porches. There are three 3-light mullion and transom windows with 4-centred arched lights that are hollow-chamfered. A moulded string course runs across the outer bays at lintel level, which feature 4-centred arched limestone doorways that are chamfered and have hood moulds; the left doorway has a 20th-century door, while the right has a plain door. The left side of the building has a large 20th-century window with a flat stone arch, and the right side has one 20th-century window as well. The parapet has moulded coping, and the rear includes one 20th-century window on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
