Description

The Vicarage is a mid-19th century building that has been converted into a house, with only a few later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone and slatestone rubble, featuring brick dressings, and has parts that are slate-hung and rendered at the front. The roof is slate, half-hipped, and includes ridge tiles and rendered stacks.

The layout consists of a double depth plan, with the entrance located at the front right. There are three main rooms facing the garden on the left side, one of which is in a canted bay. The central room is smaller, while the end room is larger. Service rooms are situated along the right side.

The exterior has two storeys, with the rendered end wall on the left slightly projecting forward. The porch is set in the angle to the right and features a hipped glazed roof with a finial, a half-glazed door with Gothic glazing bars, Gothic glazed sidelights, and an overlight. To the right of the porch, there is a 4-pane sash window at ground floor and 12-pane sashes at both ground and first floors, all with brick voussoirs and jambs. The left side has three bays with two 20-pane sashes at ground floor, a central 12-pane sash at first floor, and 16-pane sashes to the right and left, all also featuring brick voussoirs.

The right side includes a later 19th-century service lean-to, while the main range has a ground and first floor 2-light casement with a cambered head and a single-storey lean-to to the left. The rear of the building is slate-hung at the upper level, with a 16-pane sash with a cambered head at ground floor and a 20th-century glazed door. The first floor has a 20th-century window to the left, and the attic level features two 16-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
