Description
This building, located at 341 Marine Road Central in Morecambe, is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with additions made in the 1930s. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a slate roof. The original part of the house, situated on the right, has two bays and stands two storeys high. The facade includes a storey band and an iron gutter above a moulded cornice. The windows are glazing bar sashes, and the left-hand bay features a stone bow window with three curved sashes on each floor. The door, located in the right-hand bay, is set within a stone doorcase that has unfluted Doric pilasters, a cornice, and a blank frieze. The door itself consists of six raised-and-fielded panels, with the upper four panels having re-entrant corners. Above the door is a transom light with intersecting diagonal glazing bars and a central quatrefoil. There are chimneys on both the left and right sides. The left side of the building includes the 1930s additions, which are designed in a similar style and use similar materials. Each floor of the additions has three openings separated by mullions, all containing glazing bar sashes except for the left-hand opening on the ground floor, which features a glazed door.
