Description
The Morecambe Public House is a public house built in the early to mid-19th century. It features a rendered exterior with painted sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The main building has three storeys and three bays, with chamfered quoins and a sill band at the first floor. The windows have plain stone surrounds and are sashed, with the second floor windows being shorter. The central bay has blind stone surrounds on the first and second floors. Above the central doorway, which also has a plain stone surround, is a cornice. The building has gable chimneys.
To the left, there is a two-storey range with chamfered quoins and a sill band at the first floor, consisting of three irregular bays. On the ground floor to the right, there is a single-storey canted projection with a cornice and blocking course, featuring a central doorway flanked by fixed lights with glazing bars. Above this is a 20th-century casement window with a plain stone surround. In the central bay to the left, there is a similar casement with a painted surround, while the other ground floor windows are sashed without glazing bars. The left-hand bay has plain stone surrounds, and the central bay on the ground floor has triple sashes with a painted surround. An oval date plaque inscribed 'J & C 1828' is located to the left of the central window on the first floor. Additionally, there is a one-bay addition projecting forward on the left, featuring wide doors on the ground floor and a second window on the first floor in the curved wall connecting it to the main building.
