Description
This building is a house located on Marine Road Central in Morecambe, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a slate roof in a Gothic style. The house has two storeys with an attic and is symmetrical with three bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars, set in chamfered surrounds. The outer bays feature two-storey canted bay windows topped with embattled parapets that have blind tracery decoration. The middle window on the first floor has a hood mould with a central carved poppyhead.
A moulded cornice with a Gothic frieze and a pierced parapet is interrupted by two coped gables that contain attic windows. The central porch is single-storey and finely carved, with octagonal corner turrets that also feature blind tracery decoration and crocketed finials. The Tudor-arched doorway is moulded and has carved spandrel decoration. Above the doorway are two bands of Gothic ornament, and the parapet steps up in the centre above a carved shield of arms and foliage. The right-hand gable is coped, and the chimney has an octagonal shaft, while the left-hand chimney, which is raised above the eaves of the adjoining building, also features octagonal shafts.
