Description

Gabriel Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, located off Coneygarth Lane, Tunstall. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high. The windows have flat-faced mullions and surrounds with a slight chamfer. On the ground floor are two windows of three lights, with a two-light window containing a splayed mullion set within a blocked doorway between them. The first floor has a window of six lights, likely reconstructed, and a window of three lights. An added bay is located to the right, containing a ground-floor doorway and a first-floor window, both with plain reveals. Chimneys are situated on the gables and between the original house and the added bay. The original interior features chamfered axial main joists. The room on the right-hand side has a fireplace with a cyma-moulded, shouldered surround.
