Description
The Old Vicarage is a house, originally built as a vicarage in 1736. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with chamfered quoins to emphasize the corners. The windows have flat-faced mullions – vertical bars dividing the window panes – and surrounds with a slightly chamfered edge. Most windows are of two lights, but those on the ground floor in the outer bays are of three lights. A plaque above the central first-floor window is inscribed "WW 1736". Gable chimneys are present. The main doorway is located towards the rear of the left-hand gable wall, leading to a porch which connects with a rear wing. An outer doorway has a surround with a cyma moulding – a decorative, convex moulding – which forms an ogee shape on the lintel.
