Description

Farmhouse. Dating to the late 17th century, it is constructed of sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof. The house has a T-plan, featuring a central entrance and gable stacks. It is two storeys high with attics, and has a symmetrical five-bay facade. A continuous drip course runs above the rebated and chamfered cross windows on both floors. The central window above the front door has been blocked. The drip courses extend around the return walls, terminating above rebated and chamfered transomed windows, all of which are blocked. Door jambs have deep moulding which continues to the ornate lintel. Two chamfered, one-light attic windows are located in each gable, blocked except for the one at the rear of the north gable. A rear wing has some rebated and chamfered mullioned windows in the south wall. A blocked, one-light chamfered fire window is located towards the rear of the north wall. All three gables have copings with shaped kneelers. Inside, the south front room features a stone fireplace with moulding that extends around a battlemented lintel and a cyma moulded mantel shelf. A smaller fireplace with a shaped head is found in the bedroom above. An open well stair is present in the rear wing, with a closed string, square newels, and balusters. The roof structure includes both front and rear wing crucks.
