Description

This milestone, dating from around 1800, is located on the west side of Hest Bank Lane in Slyne-with-Hest, opposite the junction with Prospect Drive. It is made of sandstone and features cast iron plates. The milestone has a triangular section with a semi-circular base. The base is inscribed with the words 'SLYNE-WITH-HEST'. The left-hand plate indicates 'Hest Bank 1/4 mile', while the right-hand plate states 'Lancaster III miles'.
