Description
This is a milestone located approximately 40 meters to the west of Warran Farmhouse. It dates from the late 18th century and has early 19th-century alterations. The milestone is made of herringbone-tooled red sandstone and features cast-iron plates. On the left-hand side, there is a segmental-headed cast-iron plate with the inscription "TO/CHESTER/30/MILES," and on the right-hand side, another plate reads "TO/NEWPORT/10 MILES." At the base, there is a rectangular plate inscribed with "STOKE HEATH." The cast plates are likely early 19th-century additions, as earlier inscriptions can still be seen on the stone behind them. This milestone has been reconstructed at some point due to accident damage and is part of a series of milestones. Warran Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
